Ayurveda the ancient holistic medicine of India is the oldest record of supreme knowledge and experience of the mankind, the essence of which is man's harmony with nature and the individual's oneness with the universe. In Ayurveda, specific daily routine is prescribed for the maintenance of positive health.

The Caritas Ayurvedic hospital was established in the year 1999 at Thellakom in Kottayam, Kerala, India. The hospital was formed as the fulfillment of a long cherished dream of His Grace Mar Kuriakose Kunnacherry, the Archbishop of Kottayam Diocese with a view of giving holistic treatment for the ailing mankind comprising body, mind and soul.

Caritas Hospital is built in the vicinity of a green paddy field and is surrounded by a beautiful herbal garden. Being secluded from the rush and noise of the town, a calm and serene atmosphere prevails here and it is an ideal location for a health sanatorium. Located about 1 km from the Main Central Road (MC Road), the hospital is sought after by many from India and abroad. The freshness of unpolluted air and refreshing breeze for spiritual reflections and mental relaxation can be enjoyed here.

The hospital accommodation comprises self contained rooms and cottages. Eminent doctors belonging to the Ayurvedic and Modern medicine are on the panel of doctors at the Caritas Hospital. An added advantage is a combined weekly Out Patient Department (O.P.D) of both systems in different specialties. As an initial step towards this venture a Spine Clinic has been set up to function on every Wednesday from 3 p.m to 5 p.m. Treatment, however, is given purely in Ayurvedic traditional lines.

At Caritas Ayurvedic Hospital free medical consultation is provided from 9 am to 1 pm & 3 p.m to 5 p.m near Caritas Hospital and near SBI at Ettumanoor.

The manufacturing unit, Caritas Ayurvedic Pharmaceutical & Research Centre Trust with GMP and ISO certificates, is established with integrated approach in Indian system of medicine and modern medicine with special emphasis on geriatrics and rejuvenative therapy incorporating Yoga and Naturopathy. Medicines, we use for the treatments, including Kashayas, Arishta, Thailams, Grithams, Capsules,Tablets etc. are from our own manufacturing unit.

The institution has many development projects on hand. An ayurvedic Nursary is started for popularization of Ayurvedic system of medicine in general and creating awareness of it among the rural population along with encouragement for cultivation of herbal plants.
